Your concerns were once mine. Your fears were once mine. I get it. Sometimes you feel ecstatic when you experience the highs and joys of being pregnant. At other times, you feel anxious, doubtful, fearful even.
Can I cope with labor? Do I have it in me to birth this baby? What kind of a birth should I choose? Will I be a good mother?
From my own experience of personally going through the triumphs and challenges of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and parenting a growing child with changing needs, and from helping hundreds of couples prepare for their own birth and parenting, I can confidently say this: that preparation is key and knowledge is power.
My absolute favorite part of my work is to witness the transformation in mindset and the confidence building in couples who attend my classes! They go from being fearful and uncertain to feeling empowered and in control of their birth and parenting. It is so inspiring to walk with them through this journey – it is what makes me wake up everyday and love what I do!

FAQs
You can absolutely attend any of the classes we offer on your own but I highly recommend the partners to attend if schedule permits so that you can work on your birth and/or parenting as a team.
If your partner can’t attend the class, you are free to bring a family member along to accompany you, preferably someone who will be involved in the birth or post birth experience
Absolutely! We love conducting private sessions as it helps us customize class content to perfectly suit the needs of the couple. Classes are charged on an hourly basis and couples are free to choose the topics they would like to focus on as well as the schedule and location of the classes (based on instructor availability).
It’s best to wear comfy pants or shorts. You can bring along a light sweater or shawl to cover up in case you feel cold
For a comfortable learning experience, you may bring along: cushions or pillows, your favorite drink, and an open mind
Specific birthing classes will require you to bring a yoga mat and a birth ball (optional) – your instructor will give you more details when you sign up for the class
Healthy snacks are provided for all paid classes. You are also free to bring along your own food to eat during class or if you would like to share with the class as well!
Class dates are posted up to 3 months in advance to provide sufficient time to those interested in registering for them to plan their schedules and block out the class dates.
Childbirth classes are for anyone who wants to feel prepared and have an informed birth experience
The Nesting Heart birth classes are evidence based and cover all aspects of physiological birth as well as typical hospital procedures, pain management tools and techniques, interventions and cesarean births so that the birthing person and their partners feel ready and confident for this life changing experience.
The best time is usually in the latter part of the 2nd trimester or in the early third trimester. At about this time, you are likely to have the most energy and are feeling most comfortable, and sitting and participating in the class would be enjoyable to you. Moreover, taking a class between weeks 25 to 30 means it’s close enough to the birthing time for the information to stay fresh but will also allow you enough time to practice what you learn in class and make any important changes to your pregnancy, labor, birth and post birth experiences if you decide you want to do so
This is a common concern for many couples preparing for birth. Free or highly subsidized classes conducted by hospitals cannot match in content or format to a highly customized and tailor made classes that are conducted by The Nesting Heart with the aim to help couples, and especially the pregnant mother, feel informed and prepared for birth and beyond. They are far more detailed and in depth and are focused on developing a birthing mindset, understanding the role of pain and how to cope with it, what happens in physiological labor, how the birth companion can help the mother through her experiences etc. Most hospital classes tend to focus very briefly on the labor process and are geared towards informing couples on how giving birth typically happens in the particular hospital along with information about typical hospital procedures
Obstetricians are fantastic at what they do but childbirth education is not on their job description. While there are some who spend more time than others answering specific questions you have during an appointment, it is unrealistic to expect that your prenatal appointments or your labor day would be the time for your OBGYN to start explaining the ins and outs of the labor process for you. Childbirth classes are there to fill this need for information and confidence building that is so essential to the labor process and help couples feel prepared and knowledgeable to discuss their birth options with their OBGYN and work with them to achieve the birth experience that the couple desires for themselves. An all inclusive and comprehensive childbirth class, such as that offered by The Nesting Heart, will cover all the important topics that you should know and will have plenty of time and space to answer all your questions and concerns about the actual process and the options you have.
Yes absolutely! The decision to take an epidural as a form of pain relief is only one of many important decisions you need to make that will potentially shape your labor experience and will have an impact on your self and your baby for life. So regardless of whether you are considering taking an epidural or have decided to take one, it will still be very well worth your time and effort (and money) to take a childbirth class to ensure that you are informed and prepared about ALL aspects of the labor and birth experience.
Absolutely! I highly recommend partners to attend the breastfeeding classes as it will give them an indepth understanding of the breastfeeding process and the ways in which they can support you emotionally and physically and can encourage you along the way. Also Grandparents can attend the class for FREE!

Classes are charged on an hourly basis and couples are free to choose the topics they would like to focus on as well as the schedule and location of the classes (based on instructor availability).
I highly recommend that you do the class while you’re still pregnant and ideally in the third trimester. This gives you time to feel prepared and ready to breastfeed and in the event of the initial hiccups that are inevitable with breastfeeding, you will feel more in control and ready to troubleshoot.
Breastfeeding starts (or should start) almost as soon as baby is born which leaves almost no room to step back and learn. Having a sound foundation of evidence based information will ensure that you start off breastfeeding on the right note and continue to do so with success
If you have children, you are already parenting them. Parenting is one of the most important jobs you will do in your lifetime and unfortunately it doesn’t come with a manual. The Parenting classes offered by The Nesting Heart take you from simply surviving parenting to thriving in your parenting relationship. They are based on neuroscience and child development and psychology and will provide you a sound foundation for your parenting relationship and benefits which you and your family will enjoy for a lifetime and for generations to come.
These classes are great for anyone who looks after or works closely with young children in different capacities – parents, grandparents, nannies, domestic helpers, early childhood activity facilitators, teachers and others
The Nesting Heart Parenting Classes are geared towards parents of children aged 0 to 6 years old. Classes and workshops are divided into categories of 0 to 1 year old (Newborn Care & Early Parenting Class, Parenting your 0 to 1 year Old), Parenting your 1 to 3 year Old, and Parenting your 3 to 6 year Old.

I feel confident, calm and positive about birthing
Latha Rani , sent on 15/10/2019This is my first pregnancy and to be honest, I had no idea on what to expect. I must admit I used to have a lot of fear of giving birth coz of all the stories on pain and medical intervention during birthing process. But I am so glad I chose to attend her class. Her classes were very informative and she takes time to explain terms, processes and shares alot of her own experiences. I absolutely appreciate the effort she puts in to ensure that her clients are informed mothers to be. The best part is that after the 4 sessions with her, I feel confident, calm and positive about birthing. Thanks Namrita.

Really happy with our experience and hope other parents sign up to benefit
David Venn , sent on 21/07/2020Very happy that we connected with Namrita and the Nesting Heart. We attended the pre-natal birthing class and was impressed with the detail and presentation of the educational course material, along with Namrita's open, caring and empathetic approach to engaging with new parents. The Nesting Heart's online mother's circle has been a welcome support even after the class and Namrita is always available for follow up questions or 1:1 consultations. Really happy with our experience and hope other parents sign up to benefit from this great resource in KL!
